HR Manager

We’re looking for a Human Resources Manager/People Operations Manager who is detail-oriented, curious, and proactive, with a strong interest in process improvement and operational best practices.

Why is now a good time to join us?

We are in a high-growth, scale-up phase, having significantly expanded our international money transfer offering and operational footprint. Operations sit at the heart of our business, and this role offers a rare opportunity to gain broad exposure across processes, systems, and teams while helping shape how the business scales. You’ll work closely with different teams and be well-positioned for growth as the company continues to expand.

The opportunity

To support our growth, we are continuously refining our operational processes, systems, and controls to ensure efficiency, compliance, and scalability. We’re looking for a Human Resources Manager/People Operations Manager who is detail-oriented, curious, and proactive, with a strong interest in process improvement and operational best practices.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR policies (e.g. recruitment, study leave, wellness, disciplinary, EE/BBBEE) in line with South African labour legislation, including the Employment Equity Act, LRA, BCEA, and Skills Development Act.
  • Own the end-to-end performance management cycle: KPI framework design, review facilitation, calibration, and reporting to senior management on trends, ratings, and development needs across departments.
  • Provide strategic HR business partnering to department heads and executives, including workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning for critical and regulated roles.
  • Manage employee relations end-to-end: grievances, disciplinary processes, CCMA referrals, and conflict resolution, ensuring procedural fairness and legal defensibility.
  • Oversee recruitment and onboarding, ensuring role profiles, screening, and vetting meet both business needs and FSCA Fit & Proper requirements where roles are representative- or key-individual-linked.
  • Manage the Employee Assistance Programme (Lyra) relationship and utilization of reporting, identifying engagement trends, and escalating data or service issues.
  • Lead and develop the People Operations team, setting objectives, coaching, and managing capacity across HR functions.
  • Own HR reporting and people analytics: headcount, turnover, org structure, and performance trend reporting to leadership and the board where required.
  • Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives, including company events, wellness programmes, and internal communications.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders such as service providers and consultants.
  • Own the Learning & Development function: identify skills and development needs, design and roll out training plans, and track completion and effectiveness of interventions.
  • In partnership with Compliance, assist with mandatory and regulatory training requirements, including FSCA CPD tracking for representatives and compliance-related learning modules.
  • Administer and manage the HRIS platform (e.g. Deel) end-to-end: employee records, org structure, leave, onboarding/offboarding workflows, and reporting; act as system owner for data integrity, access control, and integrations with payroll and other business systems.
  • Drive adoption and continuous improvement of the HRIS, including user training, troubleshooting, and evaluating new features or modules against business needs.
